Powering the Future: Evaluation Insights for an Affordable, Reliable, and Sustainable World
The 2025 International Energy Program Evaluation Conference invites researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders across the energy industry to submit abstracts for presentations exploring contemporary issues in energy evaluation, measurement, and verification. We are seeking compelling abstracts on a variety of programs and methods. We encourage submissions linked to the following key themes driving the industry today:
1. Rapid & Accessible Results
As the pace of energy innovation and load growth accelerates, the need for real-time evaluation and feedback is critical. Embedded evaluation techniques, practical field applications, continuous feedback loops, and virtual solutions have the potential to deliver actionable insights swiftly and drive impact. We welcome abstracts on innovative methods that ensure rapid, accurate, and accessible results for all stakeholders, from utilities to customers, as well as across impact, process, and market analyses.
2. Expanded Metrics & New Frameworks
The evolving distributed and decarbonized energy landscape demands expanded evaluation metrics and new frameworks. Our industry is evolving to improve evaluations that confirm progress toward climate goals, the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs), transportation electrification (TE), load flexibility, resilience, workforce development, and equity consistent with Justice40 (J40) initiatives. We encourage forward-looking approaches that reflect the broader societal impacts of energy programs.
3. Communicating New Benefits
As we transition from traditional energy efficiency narratives, effective communication of the new benefits of electrification, flexible loads, and potential bill impacts becomes essential. We invite abstracts that examine the evaluation of messaging, marketing strategies, and customer engagement techniques resonating with end-use customers, utilities, and policymakers.
4. Measuring Markets
The rise of market transformation programs and active engagement with wholesale and retail markets calls for a deeper understanding of market effects and the urgency of verification in real-time market contexts. We welcome submissions that address the challenges of evaluating market transformation, operationalizing measurement in a market context, stacking and braiding funding streams, and quantifying the impact of market interventions. We seek contributions highlighting methodologies and case studies on measuring long-term market shifts and applications in real-time market settlement.
Submission Guidelines:
Abstract submissions should be no longer than 500 words. All submissions will undergo a peer-review process, and accepted abstracts may be considered for inclusion in conference sessions or poster presentations.
